Lily Tolido-Elzer, born in Groningen, residing in Ryswyk, the Netherlands,
Realistic Fine Art. Lily is fully autodidact: hence her style is special and unique. Drawing has been her passion all the time.
With the launch of “Popjects’ (human figures depicted as an object), she experienced a very succesful period in America. After a strict ballotage was she admitted, as one of the first Europeans, to the prestigious NIADA (National Institute of American Doll Artists).
But old love never dies and now she is going to draw and paint again.
A few years ago, she painted watercolors, but on recommendation of fellow painters she switched to oil painting. Her choice was based to oil-based watercolor . By observing, and the knowledge she gained with her “Popjects”, she has mastered the technique of oil painting. Because of her switch from watercolor to oil paint, she is now able to make bigger paintings. She always fine-tuned her technique.
Her favorite subjects are Portraits of People and Animals. The first that striking in her portraits are eyes, bright eyes, the feeling of tender, old colours, such as white, indigo and sepia and working with layers.
